HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY PIERCINGS?

Your piercer will explain how and when to clean your piercing and supply you with the appropriate cleansing solution. This can also be purchased from a pharmacy. Always read the instructions before use. Please do not be alarmed if you have some initial bleeding, swelling at the site of the piercing, bruising and/or tenderness. Whilst your piercing is healing you may experience some discolouration, itching, secretion of a white straw-coloured fluid (not pus). However, if you are at all concerned with the piercing site, do seek medical advice. Here are our top tips for post-piercing care:

- Avoid touching the site unnecessarily and never touch the site unless your hands are clean

- Keep the piercing clean using the appropriate cleaning fluid. Remove any discharge using the method advised by your piercer, depending on placement

- Try to avoid using cosmetics near the piercing site

- Avoid situations where your piercing might get bumped or knocked e.g. team sport

- Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and saunas for approximately four weeks

- Do not take your earrings out for long periods for the first six months to avoid the holes sealing up and avoid changing your piercing at all for the first 6 weeks (or longer if advised by your piercer)

- Avoid sleeping on the pierced area during healing, if needed use a travel pillow to keep your head elevated

- To prevent jewellery becoming loose, with clean, dry hands you can tighten the jewellery by holding the back of the post and twisting the front piece to the left

- Look out for anything that seems wrong, such as severe swelling, or embedding of jewellery. Always seek medical advice if you are concerned.

WHAT HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN IN STORE?

Rest assured that our piercers are fully-trained and qualified to undertake their work. In addition, our piercing studio has been inspected and certified to carry out piercing. So not only does look amazing, it ticks all health and safety boxes.

For minors, your parents and/or guardians are permitted access inside the room for the duration of your piercing appointment.

For adults, we prefer you to be alone, however if a support system is needed one additional person may be allowed in the room for the duration of the appointment in a safe zone (away from potential hazards).
